So, I finally got the chance to see the new "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," with Johnny Depp, directed by Tim Burton. I know, it's been out for a while, but I purposely waited until it came to the local $1.50 theater.

You see, I grew up watching the original 1971 film adaptation with Gene Wilder in the starring role, and after seeing the initial trailers for the film

Oct. 12: The Killers (with British Sea Power) at Key Arena in Seattle, Wash.

Oct. 18: Minus the Bear at WOW Hall in Eugene, Ore.

Oct. 25: Weezer and Foo Fighters (with Hot Hot Heat) at Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Ore.

Nov. 17: Death Cab for Cutie at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Ore.
