I just got an "advance" copy of The White Stripes new album, "Get Behind Me Satan." I've listened to one track thus far, but rather than try and give a thin review on what I hope to be a fantastic album, I'll refrain and wait until I've heard it several times through.

The new Weezer album has really grown on me... definitely worth a listen.

I don't understand the big deal about Jack Johnson... he's alright, but he reminds me of every other white guy with an acoustic guitar. His new video... the one with that's all backwards with him mugging to the camera the entire time... was played right before the showing of Ep. III at the Century theater in Portland. So, let me get this straight? I have to watch commercials, music videos and trailers now... BEFORE the movie even starts? I'm so going to miss the 1.50 theater in Eugene.

Ok, a couple of things first of all...

1) I've seen Revenge of the Sith twice now... at 12:05 a.m. opening day, and again on May 20th in Portland. It's fantastic. It's inspiring. It's emotional... and I loved it. more on that later...

2) The J-school accepted my petition that I mentioned in my last post... so I get to be a PR and News/Ed major. We'll see where that takes me.

I spent the weekend interviewing with Enterprise Rent-a-Car ("We'll pick you up!). They have a pretty good deal that could eventually lead to me getting an MBA... and they might even pay for it. I've had three interviews thus far... we'll see what happens next.

I also had an interview for an internship with McClenahan Bruer Communications in Portland. This is a semi-paid thing for three months that could lead to a full-time position. I'm not 100% sure what I think about that one, but I'm keeping my options open.

And, today... I finally did something I have been avoiding for a very, very long time: I got a cell phone. I realized that it's just a necessity of life, and my aunt and uncle offered to put me on their plan for $10 a month. How could I resist? Well, i really couldn't, and for now I think it'll be a good thing for me... as long as i don't turn into a gum-poppin' sorority chick who never talks to anyone unless it's via ye olde mobile.

and, that's me right now... i'm at barnhart listening to erasure and wishing i was home.

Graduation is only a few weeks away. Where did all the time go... wasn't I just a freshman trying to figure out what the hell to do with my life?

well, not really... that was like 7 years ago.

still, it's been a great ride and i'm thankful for all the experience and cool times i've had in college. the UO is a great place and I'm glad I got a chance to come here, fall ass backwards into the journalism program, which basically saved me from wandering aimlessly into the void of academia. i foun my niche and i was never happier.

i'm not sure what comes next... well, not 100%. I'm looking for a job and I even have a few interviews next week.

the j-school approved my petition to get out of the last class of the public relations major. technically, you can't take the last two classes in the sequence together, but in January, I asked if I could do just that. I was promptly denied by Prof. Tom Hagley (who would later become a great mentor and advocate) and I pretty much considered it a closed case.

But, during the first week of class, I discovered that at least two of my classmates were allowed to do the exact I had been denied. The catch: When I asked, Hagley was the only for-sure instructor... the other two hadn't been selected. When these girls asked, they (wisely, in my opinion) skipped Hagley and went to another instructor who let them in. One girl told me she just told him that she had told her parents she was graduating and they already bought plane ticket...
